In these unprecedented times, speech-language pathologists are feverishly looking for ways to continue providing essential, high-quality services for their clients while they are in their homes. Teletherapy is an evidence-based service delivery model that allows clients and therapists to interact in a fun and engaging way, while targeting specific speech and language goals. This presentation will provide SLPs with essential tips and strategies that will leave them feeling confident and prepared to launch their teletherapy practice.
Supervising a Speech Language Pathology Assistant remotely? Learn how to use SLP Toolkit to structure and streamline your SLP/SLPA team processes to more effectively and efficiently support your students and each other. Telepractice is a growing therapy model within the field of speech language pathology, yet many clinicians find themselves at a loss when it comes to finding and creating therapy materials. In this session, we will learn how to make the most of the built-in features found in most video conference platforms, how to create new, engaging and interactive activities, as well as how to adapt books and other print resources that therapists may have used previously in therapy. Multiple examples and demos will be given. Additionally, these techniques can be used for traditional onsite therapists interested in using computer based therapy materials.
This course will provide an overview of what telepractice is and what it should look like as you begin providing services. From the topics of best practice (tele-ethics), equipment, materials and engagement, technology work-arounds, and parent expectations, to a Zoom platform demonstration, this course will provide you with an overview of what to expect and how to get started!
With the unpredictability of the next few months, what we do know is we will need to be creative in finding ways to continue services for young children. Teletherapy has quickly become a hot topic. But, what about our younger population that rely on a hands-on, close contact, wiggly therapy approach? This course will provide therapists with ideas for keeping young children engaged remotely. We will discuss how to continue a play-based approach, empowering and partnering with caregivers, fun therapy ideas to retain attention, ways we can change it up and how our prep may look different than in the therapy room. Join me as we dive into the unknown.
SLPs are responsible for knowing the research behind our practice—but what if it’s new to you (e.g. telepractice), or what if you’re an SLP generalist covering a broad range of our scope (e.g. most school-based SLPs). This talk will cover the research on telehealth, then follow with how to quickly find relevant research on other topics within the scope of speech–language pathology.
