Shontaye is the founder of Having Our Say, a virtual community where children, caregivers, and providers can feel seen, valued, and heard. She is the creator of the online conference “The Equity Series” and has led presentations for organizations and schools across the country promoting language development through literacy and increasing diversity in kid lit. Her award-winning picture book, Liam’s First Cut 2020 is a celebration of family and neurodiversity as Liam, an autistic Black boy, uses supports to process sensory information as he prepares for his first visit to the barbershop. The Season of Yes! 2023 is a jubilant tribute to spending summer in the city. When she’s not writing, Taye enjoys eating pizza and sharing humor and book recommendations on social media at @Having Our Say.
