Collaborative Communication: The Dialogue of an SLP Coach

This course will dive deep into the dialogue that is used as a coach, which is a collaborative communication style. We will discuss the impact our communication style has on the way our message is delivered to our communication partners and how their nervous system perceives the message. We will discuss the importance of the regulation pyramid relative to our nervous system and social emotional learning and how that impacts human connection and communication. Then, we will end with a moment of reflection on our own individual lenses, which is the most important factor of practice-based coaching. Let's brainstorm on how we can promote inclusion as a community by advocating for our client's needs while promoting regulation without causing burnout on their nervous system.

She is currently serving as a full-time Social Emotional Coach for the University of Miami's LOOK (Learning to Objectively observe Kids) Project. Jacqui has provided 1:1 coaching for teachers in the Head Start Programs for Miami-Dade County, Florida in order to promote positive engagement and social emotional development in children ages 3-5. She is currently working on her Neurodiversity-Affirming SLP Coach Online Course, where SLPs will gain access to her 14 Week Connection & Communication Stimulation Parent Coaching Program, in order to make a greater impact as an SLP unit in the homes of neurodivergent children. Her mission is to educate all adults about the paradigm shifts relative to how we view / respond to our children's behaviors, collaborative communication style and proactive solutions, and advocacy for appropriate accommodations to promote children to success in every setting based on their needs and strengths, through a positive, neurosensory, and Neurodiversity-Affirming lens. She is passionate about understanding our individual Sensory Profiles, in order to have a better understanding of our triggers and our children's behaviors, to ultimately create sensational connection in our homes and in every meaningful interaction.
