Evidence-Based Tips for Implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication

Struggling to find evidenced-based, practical ways of getting everyone on board when teaching an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) system? Confused about ways to efficiently train communication partners or what to focus on? In this course, participants will learn how to successfully implement AAC systems using evidence-based strategies. This course will focus on family-centered intervention practices and training communication partners in critical skill areas. Course material will hone in on areas that research has consistently shown to be the most important for AAC success.

Shannon Werbeckes
M.S. CCC-SLP
Shannon is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist in the state of Wisconsin. She earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Radford University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Shannon has worked as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in a variety of pediatric settings including an outpatient clinic, a preschool, and most recently, a middle school. She is also a creator, author, and blogger on her website, Speechy Musings. Shannon is passionate about supporting other pediatric SLPs, language therapy, and everything related to AAC.
