Jerrold Jackson, M.A., CCC-SLP, (Jerrold is pronounced as Jer-ralld) is a nationally certified speech-language practitioner (SLP) and an owner and director of Specialized Supports with the Roundtree Group, PLLC, which provides programmatic development consultation, professional mentoring, speech-language, assistive technology, and educational evaluation services. He received his bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Southern University and A&M College, a Historically Black College and University. His master’s degree he received from Western Michigan University. Jackson is an advocate for culturally responsive practices and has a range of professional experiences in private practice, universities, and public schools. Jackson's professional roles have involved work as a(n) clinical fellow mentor, assistive technology specialist, special education coordinator, special education director, SLP graduate program clinical coordinator, SLP graduate program coordinator, faculty member, and consultant. Jackson has presented nationally by invitation on topics related to supervision, mentorship, interprofessional education/collaboration, school-based supports, and culturally responsive practices. As an active professional volunteer at the local, state, and national levels, Jackson has served as a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Council for Clinical Certification in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (CFCC), an ASHA Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) site visitor and was appointed as the Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee assigned to revise the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Scope of Practice by the ASHA Board of Directors. Jackson was appointed to the Praxis National Advisory Committee for Speech-Language Pathology in June 2022. He has been a member of the Scientific and Professional Education Board (SPEB) and a part of the Convention Planning Committee (CPC) for the 2023 ASHA convention to be held in Boston. His volunteer work with ASHA has led to new program development within the association such as the Assistants Certification Program [including the development and revision of the SLPA national certification examination], the Clinical Fellowship Experience [including revising the Clinical Fellowship Skills Inventory which received its first update since 1993], and ensuring that matters related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and culturally responsive practices are a part of certification maintenance for all professionals who hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). He is also active with the National Black Association for Speech-Language Hearing (NBASLH) serving on the NBASLH Cares Committee and was the Chair of the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association (TSHA) Diversity Committee (formed in June 2020) through February 2022. In 2022, Jackson was selected to receive the ASHA Dorothy Dreyer Award for Volunteerism which is given annually to one individual who has made significant and outstanding volunteer contributions to ASHA and serves as a model of volunteerism to others. Individuals are awarded for exceptional contributions that have had a subsequent impact on the profession, ASHA members, and clients. Jackson was honored in 2021 by being selected to join the “Cohort Trois” of the Southern University Alumni Federation’s 40 Under Forty Award. The 40 Under Forty Awards recognize Southernites, under the age of 40, who have made significant contributions to their professional disciplines, local communities, and/or the preservation of Southern University. Mr. Julien Frazier, Ed.S., M.A., CCC-SLP is a lifelong educator and current Director of Student Services for Van Buren Public Schools in Wayne County, MI. His experiences range from Director of Special education, Special Education Supervisor, Cohort Supervisor, Interim Principal, Consultant, Coordinator, special education provider and clinical speech-language pathologist throughout various job settings. As a member of the greatest and most valued working profession of our time, Frazier has made an unwavering commitment to facilitate learning and improve student achievement within the educational environment. As an educator and advocate for students with specific and unique needs, Frazier’s vast experiences and longevity in special education, and the field of speech-language pathology, have seamlessly improved language development, academic experiences, discipline measures, compliance standards, and the full gamut of educational obligations for students in traditional and non-traditional school settings. Currently, Frazier is a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy in the Educational Policy & Leadership Studies program at Wayne State University. Frazier holds an Education Specialist degree from Wayne State University, a Masters degree in the field of Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Wayne State University.
