Business Essentials for the Beginning Entrepreneur

Becoming an entrepreneur is a time of excitement. No doubt you want your business to be profitable and last a long time. While jumping two feet first into business sounds like a dream come true for many, there are other professionals and steps that should be taken to properly set up your business. This presentation will cover which professionals a new business owner should meet with, potential pitfalls, and review case scenarios about consulting other professionals.

1. Participants will identify key professionals that a person should contact when deciding to go into business.
2. Participants will examine the ethical implications of following ill-advised business advice.
3. Participants will review case studies of individuals who used appropriate professionals in establishing their business and those who did not.

Shontaye Glover Jones is the founder and owner of Having Our Say, LLC. Sydney Bassard is an acclaimed speech-language pathologist, international presenter, and children’s book author. Sydney frequently presents on assessment and treatment of DHH children, literacy, social media ethics, and health literacy. She has had the privilege to present to speech-language therapists in other countries as well.
