Engaging Children with Autism: A Parent Coaching Model for Teletherapy

The exciting world of teletherapy provides speech language pathologists (SLPs) with the incredible opportunity to empower parents of children on the autism spectrum through education and training. The goal of parent coaching via teletherapy is to support parents in building a strong connection and relationship with their child, which will in turn improve the child’s attention and language. This course offers a structure for providing coaching to parents with children on the autism spectrum who require a higher level of support. Therapists will walk away with strategies that can be used to improve a child’s attention, engagement, and intrinsic motivation to communicate.

Jessie Ginsburg is a speech-language pathologist and founder of Pediatric Therapy Playhouse, a multidisciplinary clinic in Los Angeles. She is an autism blogger with an international following, and the creator of "ASD from the Inside Out", an online course that teaches speech-language pathologists innovative ways to assess and treat young children on the autism spectrum. She presents at the state and national levels, contributes to the American Speech Language Hearing Association magazine, and is a board member of the California Speech Language Hearing Association.
