/ɹ/ you frustrated by working on /ɹ/? Try facilitative contexts!

“R is among the most menacing of sounds” – Dwight Schrute. If you agree – this session is for you! Using phonetic science, we will dive into the various tongue postures necessary for correct /ɹ/ productions in pre-vocalic position, vocalic positions, and consonant clusters. This will include an overview of the vowel quadrilateral and the ways in which choosing the correct vowel sound can help to optimize your treatment word list.

/ɹ/ you frustrated by working on /ɹ/? Try facilitative contexts!

The “R” sound is a challenging phoneme to produce, and is a very common speech sound error among young children. It is a phoneme in the liquid manner class, which means that the articulators can and must easily change shape to accommodate the sounds around it. Using clinical phonetics, we will discuss how to rely on the vowel quadrilateral to improve clinical practice and child outcomes.

This course will be available on demand after the live SSD Series kick off course, Oct. 8, 8:30 p.m. ET.
