I'll share my 4 step process for therapy planning and then we will practice the steps to create a toolkit of themed therapy resources.
Back to School with Preschool
Participants will learn how to prep and plan with functional, accessible, and FUN activities for preschoolers who are going back to school! This course will provide speech language pathologists with a variety of activities for one theme/topic and demonstrate how to target a wide variety of goals. We will discuss the materials needed for varied activities and plan how to use and modify the lesson for whole group, small group, and individual sessions. Back to school – here we come!
Creating Lessons for Students Using Augmentative and Alternative Communication
In this session, we will explore ideas for creating group therapy lesson plans that foster modeling of AAC, use of core vocabulary to support language goals, and engagement for students with complex communication needs. We will discuss ideas for creating a structured lesson plan framework to be used multiple times in a classroom of students with complex communication needs. We will also talk about how to structure these ideas for a younger (1st - 4th grade) group of students as well as an older group of students (5th-8th grade). Finally, we will review the importance of consistent structure, repetition, use of visuals for support and use of engaging materials.
